The annual NFDI4ING community survey

Welcome to the NFDI4ING Community Survey 2024.

Engineering sciences play a key role in developing solutions for the technical, environmental, and economic challenges of our modern society. FAIR data, data quality and research data management (RDM) are therefore becoming increasingly important in order to document the associated research processes and to make research results and data accessible in a transparent and sustainable manner.

The way we do research is changing. NFDI4Ing wants to accompany you in this process of change. In order to best support you in managing your research data, we would like to ask for your help and feedback.  

Your answers will help us to improve our tools and services according to your needs and wishes regarding the handling of research data. Filling out the survey will take about 10 - 15 minutes. We would appreciate it if you could share the survey link with your colleagues.

Rights of data subjects, cancellation and right of appeal
If we process your personal data, you have the following rights as a data subject:

  •     a right to information about the processed data and to a copy,
  •     a right to rectification if we process incorrect data about you,
  •     a right to erasure, unless exceptions apply as to why we still store the data, for example retention obligations or limitation periods

  •     a right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that we are not processing your data properly. The State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hanover, is responsible for the university. If you are in another federal state or not in Germany, you can also contact the data protection authority there.

As part of the NFDI4ING project work, to assess the needs for processing engineering research data and to determine the level of awareness of the NFDI4ING consortium.

Purposes for which the personal data is to be processed
To determine the general knowledge and needs for research data management (RDM) in engineering, and in particular the need for RDM support from the NFDI4Ing consortium. The anonymised information will be used to develop the NFDI4Ing services.

Legal basis for processing
Consent, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a) GDPR

Duration for which the personal data is stored or, if this is not possible, the criteria for determining this duration
Personal data will be deleted or anonymised after the evaluation of the survey data.
